If you’re planning a 2021 Mexico vacation, it’s natural to wonder what tips you’ll need to make your trip a smooth one. It’s important to remember that we’re still in times that are changing quickly, so don’t forget to consult with US travel authorities to receive accurate and up to date regulations regarding your trip. While we’ve done our best to make these tips accurate at the time they are written, please be advised that this post will not be updated regularly, so when it comes to international travel regulations, government authorities are always your best source of information.
Important 2021 Mexico Vacation Tips to Know as the Pandemic Continues
Before you head away on your trip, be aware that as of January 26, 2021, all US passengers (aged 2 years and older) arriving back in the country by air are required by the CDC to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test that was taken no more than 3 days before arriving in the country. If you do not provide this proof, you will be denied boarding to your flight. This does not apply to people traveling by land.
Many travelers continue to test positive. If your test is positive, be aware that you will be refused boarding by your airline and will be required to self-isolate in Mexico and delay your travel until you have recovered and can provide proper documentation that states as much. It’s a good idea to contact the nearest US Embassy in Mexico for accurate and up-to-date advice if this should occur.
Handy Tips During Your 2021 Mexico Vacation Overall
If you do take all the necessary precautions and choose a 2021 Mexico vacation, a private villa is a great choice to make sure you’re still living in luxury while you’re away but can remain isolated with your travel group as much as possible. Still, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t leave the property. Enjoy your trip! Here are some added tips to make things go more smoothly.
1 – Use the Right Bathroom!
Doors marked “M” stand for “mujeres”, which is for women. If you’re a man, you’ll want to look for the door that is marked either “H” for “hombres” or “C” for “caballeros”. This is a fantastic tip to make sure you avoid embarrassing mistakes from automatically assuming that “M” stands for “Men”…which it definitely does not in Spanish speaking countries.
2 – Don’t Drink the Tap Water
It’s not impossible for tap water to be safe for Americans in Mexico. That said, most often, it isn’t. It’s always best not to take the risk, as choosing the wrong glass of water (even if it’s just the water you’re using to brush your teeth) can leave you trapped in the bathroom for most of your trip. Villa Estrella provides you with all the bottled water you need to avoid that discomfort. That said, water bottles with travel-grade filters can also work great while you’re on day trips and need to refill your water bottle on the go.
3 – Buy Travel Insurance
Even if you’ve never purchased it before, on a 2021 Mexico vacation – or travel anywhere else for that matter – having that extra piece of mind will make sure that no matter what happens, you won’t face extreme expenses. Be sure you understand exactly what your policy covers and don’t buy the cheapest one just because it’s the least expensive. Remember that the whole point is to get the coverage you need. If that means paying a few extra dollars, go for it. If you end up needing it, it will pay for itself many, many times over.
