One night a 400 pound stone fish floated in from Michoacan. He found a great spot to watch the sea at Villa Estrella, a great villa for rental in Mexico on the Riviera Nayarit, near Platanitos at Punta el Custodio
We just arrived yesterday for another 5 weeks of heaven at Villa Estrella. It’s April and the weather is changing, the days are getting warmer, the sun is higher in the sky and shines until 7 pm, Sunset is right in front of the pool. The gardens have never been more lush, flowers and colour everywhere. The villa has been beautifully kept and everything is in excellent conditions. We have to replace some pool lounges, a new microwave is in order, and some of the bedding and towels will be renewed during this stay.
Probably our biggest project will be to renew the upholstery on the big living room banco. This is the original upholstery we had custom made back in 1998 when we built the house, it still looks good but there is wear starting to show. It’s also an opportunity to kick up the colour and visual impact a notch, the beige was getting a little boring, after all, this is Mexico. The best part of the reupholstering is that we get to make a trip to Guadalajara to pick and order the fabric, and that will involve a few nights in Tlaquepaque, one of our favorite haunts in Mexico, there are sure to be some great mariachi nights in the town square. The big suburban has been tuned up, we got a new windshield, transmission leak fixed, we have great tires and we are ready for the adventure,
Come to Mexico, visit the wonderful state of Nayarit. We are on the famous Riviera Nayarit, 65 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, near the village of Platanitos. Rent our beautiful Villa Estrella, and see what all the fuss is about for yourselves.
Last but not least, the Villa Estrella guestbook has pages and pages of more testimonials from the happy and enchanted guests that stayed here in 2011 and 2012.

Our first “real” family vacation was wonderful, our three kids and grandma loved their first visit to Mexico! What a beautiful spot. The villa and grounds are kept so immaculate, and everyone is so friendly. If only we knew some Spanish. Great time had by all, thank you so much for sharing your paradise. Rosa and her girls were amazing. Perhanps Rosa would consider putting her recipes into an English booklet for sale, we would have bought one. (Just for the key lime pie recipe alone). Whale watching tour was great, whales and leaping manta rays, so cool!! Thanks again, we will always have such fond memories.

What a serene spot you have here in Mexico. We enjoyed being “unplugged” and in raw beauty, away from the hustle and bustle. Our three young children are busy with the lovely pools, chasing butterflies, hunting for treasures (shells, crabs, driftwood, cool rocks), meeting new friends, surfing with dad. We loved the Jungle tour. We loved sweet Maggie all of her delicious dishes, she was so kind and easy to be around. Alvaro spent the day with us touring San Blas and the mangroves; he is so charming and patient.
We are off to catch our last gorgeous sunset by the amazing fig tree at the tip of the point, a wonderful nightly ritual. We thank you for a new way to see Mexico, less tourism, more raw nature to explore, and soak in the sun, Cheers! The Gallis, San Diego.

Villa Estrella is one of the most wonderful vacation spots we have ever visited. We spent one day in San Blas and the jungle tour and shopping. Next day was spent deep sea fishing with Reuben, catch of tuna and mahi mahi was prepared to perfection by Rosa. After all this activity we still had time to enjoy the beach, the pools and the sunsets. Thank you to everyone for sharing this wonderful adventure with our families. Strong Family, Sioux City IA.

When can you ever say that a rental property is better than the pictures? You can say that after you stay at Villa Estrella. I’ve travelled a fair bit but our stay here was just profoundly relaxing. The house is gorgeous but still manages to be homey and very comfortable. One of the things we liked best was not making any decisions about food – we don’t have any particular likes or dislikes so we just ate what Rosa put in front of us. And what she put in front of us was delicious! Crawford Family, Langley BC.

So very blessed to have spent the last 7 days at Villa Estrella. Rosa, Alvaro and the rest of the staff certainly know how to make a “gringo” feel welcome. We took advantage of the remoteness and embraced the opportunity for adventure and to unplug. Spent hours reading books, playing cards with travelling companions, loving the company we brought.

What a wonderful hideaway here at Villa Estrella. Tonight we watched the last sunset here and the end of a beautiful relaxing vacation, back to the cold winter of Minnesota. What a friendly community this is. We never expected this little paradise. We had a great time watching whales, and enjoyed the waterfall hiking adventure. Thank you for your hospitality, thank Rosa for the extra 5 pounds we put on with her incredible cooking. God’s blessing on your paradise. Dawn & Larry, Minnesota

Thank you so much for sharing your absolutely gorgeous house and property. We had such a wonderful vacation. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we didn’t want to ever leave. I told Michael to just leave me there and I would house hop throughout the year until he came back to get me. The house was perfect, Rosa was wonderful, the pool was glorious, the surf was amazing, the beach was breathtaking. The sunsets and sunrises were unbelievably beautiful. I was so spoiled all week that the night of our return, I was desperately waiting for Rosa to come 🙂 We hope to come back again, we enjoyed our vacation so much. We will work hard, save lots and come back as soon as we can. You have a very beautiful home in Mexico. We will forever remember our 10 days in paradise.

Still coming down from the high of our amazing stay at Villa Estrella. We absolutely loved it and wanted to pass on our Thank you to you and the amazing staff at Punta el Custodio. We always felt like someone was always taking care of us and watching out for us to make our vacation perfect, yet we were left to just enjoy our time as a family. Ismael stopped by and made sure everything was wonderful and made sure all arrangements were perfectly planned from transportation to and from the airport and any excursions we went on. Speaking of excursions – Alvaro, is a real asset to your community. He took us to La Penita to the market and helped us with the language and bartering. He then joined us on the Jungle Cruise and into San Blas and took us to a local restaurant for lunch. The kids are still talking about the hot Banana Bread that we bought from a fabulous woman on the side of the road.
We really wanted our kids to experience Mexico and we felt so safe in all our adventures. We knew that our kids lived a very sheltered life in our small town, and for us to feel completely safe down in Plantanitos to send them off on their own with Pesos to buy ice cream from the beach vendor, out from under our watchful eye, was amazing. Next time the kids are asking if we can visit some local schools, this we will definitely look into next time.
Rosa and Lorena were amazing, with the English/Spanish book in hand we managed to communicate with them both. Lots of laughs from both sides on our communication skills. Rosa and I managed to understand each other enough for her to share her recipes and techniques for Tortillas and Guacamole. The kids loved them both so much and would spring out of bed each morning asking is Rosa here yet. Please thank Rosa for us for making extra Torillas for the kids and wrapping them up for a snack on the plane. With great sadness we were in the air flying home, opening up the Tortillas made with love from Rosa, brought a smile to all our faces. We will definitely return, as we spent so much time just enjoying our villa and the beach that we still have things to see and do next time.
PS We had a tour of many of the villas and Villa Estrella is the best, only one that felt truly Mexican, beautiful. Tammy Chad & Kids, Duncan BC
