Salto de Jala Waterfall

How to Enjoy the Natural Beauty of the Salto de Jala Waterfall

The Salto de Jala Waterfall is an absolutely stunning natural feature in Nayarit. It is a 98 foot high waterfall that punctuates the end of a gorgeous one kilometer (just over a half mile) walk. Located in Jala, which is about a two hour drive from Villa Estrella, it is well worth seeing during your stay.

The trick to being able to see the Salto de Jala waterfall is to make sure you’re there at the right time of the year. The best time to go is between June and September. The reason is that this is the time in which the water is actually flowing.

The Salto de Jala Waterfall Experience

Upon arriving at the start of the walk toward the Salto de Jala waterfall, you will already be able to see a few little trickles of water. The more you approach the main rock formation, the heavier those trickles of water will become. The cliffs are rich with vegetation and full of the life made possible by the flowing water.

The entire experience provides you with a unique view of the presence of the Salto de Jala waterfall. It isn’t just a matter of the falls themselves, which you see at the end of your walk. Throughout your short trek, you’ll see water flowing, splashing and leaping throughout the vegetation.

Lush Green Mountains

The presence of the water throughout the mountainous area makes sure that there is rich life all around. The mountains themselves are a vibrant green and the trails remain permanently damp. This makes the area the perfect place for all forms of organisms. If the plant life isn’t enough to show you this, you’ll certainly discover it in all the different bird songs and calls you’ll hear.

Pay even closer attention and you may even hear the nearby sounds of horses and cattle. If you continue to listen to everything you can hear both nearby and, in the distance, the sound of the stream will continue to grow.

Approaching the Salto de Jala Waterfall

All your senses will begin to alert you as you get closer to the Salto de Jala waterfall. First, you will hear the trickling of water increasing. Then, you will start to feel the humidity rising.
