Noel painted a huge Red Hibiscus Mural on the entrance Wall

Villa Estrella is due for a paint job. Whereas the interior is generally painted white and we touch it up every year, the exterior terra cotta colour has not been repainted since the villa was built in 1998.

We are ready for a change. What colour to choose? At Punta el Custodio, our community is dominated by the spectacularly dense mixture of natural jungle and rich dense tropical plantings. Out of respect for the natural surroundings, the villas in the community strive to blend into the nature, rather than to dominate by standing out. This means that deeper richer saturated colours work best.

When approaching Villa Estrella on the cobbled paths, you can barely see it. Only the palm thatch palapa cone reaches out above the richness of the plants. The entry to the villa is concealed by rough natural rock walls, and vine covered shade structures, that make the transit into the villa quite an experience, with a beautiful curved shaded cool entry sequence that gives no hint of the incredible explosion of visual sensations once you get through the front door.

We decided to highlight the entry sequence with an incredible 10 ft high painted red hibiscus blossom over a deep dark eggplant coloured background.

We engaged our dear friend Noel, a Florence trained muralist from Colorado to design and execute this amazing graphic feature. Take a look at the photos. We are completely excited by the results. Noel is currently repainting other parts of the villa exterior, and we cant wait to see the results, we will be sharing the photos here in future posts.
