World Class Golfing in the Puerto Vallarta Area

The region boasts nine golf courses, four of which are considered to be among the best in the world. They were created by some of the most celebrated golf course designers on the planet. Among them are Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and Robert von Hagge, just to name a few.

The Punta Mita Golf Club at the Four Seasons
This club boasts two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses. The Pacifico course opened in 2009 and the Bahia opened ten years later in 2009. The legendary Jack Nicklaus designed these courses and was present at their inaugurations to give the ceremonial tee shot.
The Punta Mita Pacifico course is a Par 72 which offers breathtaking views of white sand beaches nestled within the embrace of the Sierra Madre Mountains, surrounded by gorgeous flowering trees and palms. Eight of its holes feature views of either the Pacific Ocean or Banderas Bay. One unique hole has a green located on a natural island in the Pacific to which the submerged stone pathway becomes accessible during low tide. The course is beginner-friendly but is challenging enough for experienced golfers as well.
The Punta Mita Bahia course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course. Five of those holes are located along the spectacular emerald sea, while two more look out to the ocean for a stunning view. Holes 15 and 17 provide golfers with an extraordinary view and challenge at the same time.
The Punta Mita Golf Club itself offers both men’s and women’s locker rooms, as well as a restaurant and bar and a pro shop.
El Tigre Club de Golf at Paradise Village
This Robert Von Hagge designed course is a recent addition to the Puerto Vallarta golfing region. It has rapidly become a Mexico golf vacations favorite. Tucked into the Sierra Madre Mountains, it is a par 72 constructed on a flat piece of land greatly restructured to create nine new individual bodies of water just off the edge of the Pacific Ocean. It is technically located in Nuevo Vallarta, at the Paradise Village Beach Resort. The El Tigre is loved not only for its gorgeous views throughout this championship course, but also for its upscale new facilities and exclusive country club.
The fascination of this club begins right at the entrance, where golfers must pass through a Mayan temple-styled stone archway, next to which is the habitat of a real Bengal tiger. Both the clubhouse and the course offer brilliant views no matter which direction you face.
Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Vista Vallarta
Jack Nicklaus’ signature golf course is one of two signature courses designed by legends at Vista Vallarta. This 18-hole, par 72 championship course opened in April 2001.
It is positioned within the local rainforest on the highest elevation of the Vista Vallarta’s property. This provides golfers with an unbelievable view of the Marina, of the Banderas Bay and of Puerto Vallarta itself. As golfers play their way through this course, they make their way along grassy hillsides, past natural creeks, beyond dense palm and ficas tree forests and beyond arroyos.
Tom Weiskopf Signature Golf Course at Vista Vallarta
Vista Vallarta’s other signature course was designed by golf great, Tom Weiskopf. This course is located only 10 minutes from Marina Vallarta, within the rainforest’s foothills. This course opened only a few months after Nicklaus’s course, in November 2001. That said, despite the fact that they are both at Vista Vallarta and were opened in the same year, this par 72, 18-hole championship course is strikingly different from the other one.
It is located on the lower west end of the property and provides golfers with a much more extreme type of terrain. The experience brings them beyond deep ravines, rapid moving creeks and by dense jungles. Golfers will enjoy Weiskopf’s mastery of the area’s natural landscape as he worked with the existing features and elevations to create an outstanding Mexico golf vacations design.
